5 minutes of silence for GEMA

GEMA BILD

Overwhelming silence on the dance floor. German clubs pull the plug for 5 minutes. On Saturday at 23:55 clock will stop off in hundreds of discos and clubs throughout Germany under the motto "It's five to twelve!" Silence. Why? GEMA (Society for musical performing rights) wants to raise fees next year to the music in some cases several hundred percent and do so many small restaurants in the bankruptcy.

The clubs can pass on this Tarifhöhung either on admission or self-pay. Especially the smaller stores will be gone then the guests, where the entrance is too expensive. Many companies will therefore have to undergo, because they can not afford the price increase can not do. According to the Federal Association of German clubs and dance companies (BDT), which initiated the action, some 100 000 jobs in Germany could therefore be at risk, 20 000 of them in Bavaria.

The initiative aims to be the imminent threat to a vibrant and multi-layered club and club culture attention in Germany. Under www.disco-retter.de can be expressed in a petition against the tariff increase of GEMA, so that society still move away from their debts.
