System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian live at Tonhalle
The Lebanese-born U.S. citizen Serj Tankian is one of the most exciting protagonists of the modern rock scene. He is equally artistically, politically and socially active and combines these elements always new and exciting. As front man of the alternative metal band System Of A Down Tankian himself played in a decade in the rock royalty. In parallel, he released three solo albums, worked as a journalist and became active in social and political contexts. After his trip to the Classic Escapes the specialist-driven artists in mid-July once again in a new sound-context: his concept album "Harakiri" is a work full of punk rock, pressure and accusatory lyrics. These songs, he will live on the 16/10/2012 to present at the Tonhalle in Munich.
From the very beginning is Serj Tankian, who was born in 1967 in Beirut and at the age of five with his parents emigrated to the United States, aware of his actions in the political and social responsibility of art. With his songs he touches people on an emotional level in order to gain access to their intellect. "If you go near a track, you'll think about it," he says. "So you find a path to the opinions and beliefs, which I try to enrich it by, I bumping into my lyrics impetus and inspiration."
With this method, he helped System of a Down is not only to international success, but in a unique position within the exception of the heavy music scene. Perhaps no other band in this genre is estimated in addition to the furious and brilliantly composed songs played so effectively for their statements and content. Additional spiritual food received by the fans Tankian poetry book "Cool Gardens" in the tradition of TS About Eliot and his dedicated public relations. With Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello and Tankian called environmental activists in 2004, the organization Axis of Justice to life, the global grievances, discussed racism, media censorship and human rights violations.
Serj Tankian live at the Tonhalle in Munich issues are reflected in his lyrics. For example, on his solo album "Elect The Dead" from 2007, with whom he could open up by folk and rock circles for his new listeners bonds messages. Because this is a central drive Serj Tankian: The view outside the box, breaking out of the scenes and adventures, always being open to new forms of presentation and sound. So he arranged the entire album into an orchestral version also: Using the "Elect The Dead Symphony" with which he toured around the world, he again reached a whole new audience.
Inspired by this stylistic openness, began working on the frontier with his successor. "Imperfect Harmonies" of 2010 is a work of jazz, orchestral sounds and electronic elements. In July, now is the next book: "Harakiri" rediscover the roots of punk rock and carries a higher-level concept: The entire work is an indictment of modern humanity, against factory farming and the insidious murder of mother earth. For such a radical selected subject to the Tankian hard punk rock aware.
And yet, this work is only the beginning of another publishing initiative of this exceptional artist. Because in addition to "Harakiri" He is currently pursuing a jazz album called "Jazz Iz-Christ" and an electronic book entitled "Fuktronic". His second book of poetry is almost abgschlossen, moreover, he is in the final throes of his first classical opera "Orca". There is probably no current musician who would be more versatile and committed.
